Mānuka Honey and Oat Face Mask
This Mānuka honey and oat face mask takes about two minutes to make and uses ingredients you probably already have in the kitchen. The oats gently exfoliate while Mānuka honey does what it does best: hydrates, soothes, and leaves your skin feeling noticeably softer.
What you'll need
- 1 tbsp Mānuka honey (UMF 10+ or higher)
- 1 tbsp ground oats (fine ground works best for a smooth application)
- 1 tsp plain, unsweetened yogurt (optional, for extra moisture)
How to make it
Mix all three ingredients in a small bowl until you get a smooth, spreadable paste. If it's too thick, add a tiny splash of warm water. If it's too runny, add a pinch more oat.
Apply evenly to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. You'll feel it tighten slightly as it dries, which is the oats doing their thing.
Rinse off with warm water using gentle circular motions. This is where you get a light exfoliation from the oat. Pat dry with a clean towel.
Why it works
Oats are a natural exfoliant that remove dead skin cells without irritating sensitive skin. They also contain compounds that help the skin retain moisture, which is why oat-based products show up in so many skincare ranges.
M\u0101nuka honey is naturally humectant, meaning it draws moisture into the skin and holds it there. Combined with oats, it creates a mask that cleans, hydrates, and calms in one step.
The yogurt is optional but worth adding if your skin is on the drier side. The lactic acid provides a mild additional exfoliation and adds a cooling feel to the mask.
Tips
Use once or twice a week for best results. If you have sensitive skin, do a patch test on your inner wrist first.
Store any leftover mask in the fridge and use within two days. Fresh is always better.
